Code of Ethics for Maine Center
Maine Center and its Board and Staff subscribe to and uphold the following principles:
iThe interests of the client are always respected.
Activities on behalf of the client are always determined by his or her best interests. The client’s rights are protected in accordance with the law and Maine Center policies.
iServices reflect the needs of the community.
Accountability to the community is recognized by the Board and staff of Maine Center as we set priorities, policies and configure our services.
iHigh professional standards are maintained and promoted.
Maine Center strives to provide the best service possible. Our clinical staff is fully licensed or certified and will maintain that status while they are employed at Maine Center. Management and staff are expected to remain current with the “state of the art” in the mental health and substance abuse fields.
iPublic integrity is protected.
Staff and board members will maintain the highest ethical conduct. Fraud and misrepresentation are unacceptable and are not tolerated. Maine Center and its staff will maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Employees will conform his/her behavior and clinical or business practices to the code of the national organization to which they or their peers belong. (e.g., Social Workers will be held to the “NASW Code of Ethics”; Physicians to “The Principles of Medical Ethics” of the AMA; Counselors will be held to the “Code of Ethics” of the American Counseling Association; Development activities will be in accord with the Association of Fundraising Professionals “Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice”, Fiscal Services will follow GAAP, etc.)
iAccess to quality community services is promoted.
Maine Center believes that persons seeking services will receive the best quality services available in the local community. When those services are not available through Maine Center those seeking them will be referred to other community providers who offer them.
